For the past several years I’ve been writing a Year in Review. I started in 2022 with a list of favorite comics, and continued in 2023 with discussion about social media, comics, and the web site.

Here’s the latest for 2024!

Bluesky

Since 2017 I’ve been really into microblogging, and 2024 was no different. But this year I changed platforms and focused on Bluesky.

Bluesky is a social media microblogging platform similar to Twitter/X or Mastodon. I created a Bluesky account in 2023 and used it on and off, but I revisited the platform towards the end of this year and I’m really enjoying it. My social media time is mostly spent on Bluesky now.

Besides just hanging out on the platform, Bluesky provides opportunities for extending it via software development and infrastructure. I’ve done the following:

• ✅ Installed my own PDS and started self-hosting my main account
• ✅ Created did:web accounts
• ✅ Started documenting Bluesky: Bluesky
• ✅ Started writing some bits of code: github.com/threddyrex

I have plans for exploring the platform more in 2025, including writing code and running infrastructure. And of course hanging out and posting. 😊

Threddy Comics

Next topic is the Threddy Comics. It was a slow year of comics - in 2024 I created only 18 total. But a few of the comics I created still turned into favorites:

New Threddy Pin

One of my hobbies is enamel pins. Both collecting pins, and designing pins of my own. I have a pin board on my office wall where I display them.

In 2023 I rebranded my Threddy logo to the black and white t-rex fossil. And then I realized that I didn’t have a pin for the logo! So in May I designed one and ordered a batch. The pin is shown in the photo at the top of this page.

2025

I’m looking forward to 2025! I have some goals and resolutions in mind, and I’m excited to create some fun stuff. Happy New Year!
