THREDDY'S YEAR IN REVIEW - 2023

December 25, 2023

Welcome to Threddy’s Year in Review for 2023! This is a look back on the highlights from this year.

The first highlight I’d like to mention is the new web site. In previous years I would host content primarily on social media platforms like Twitter. But with the recent disruption in the social media space, I decided it was finally time to create my own home on the internet. The web site is located at https://threddyrex.com and hosts every single comic I’ve created since 2017. I still hang out on social media, but all content will be viewable on this web site long term.

The next highlight is progress on Threddy Comics. I created 70 comics this year, covering topics like return to office, layoffs, and AI. I also made enhancements to the art style - I switched to a fully-drawn style for the backgrounds, and I made changes to the speech bubbles (shout out to the new font I’m using - Ames Pro). At the bottom of this page I list my favorite comics from 2023.

The next highlight is the addition of blog posts. I’m not much of a blogger, but in 2023 I wrote a few posts that I’m really proud of. A History of Threddy is an adaptation of a 2019 talk I gave at the Microsoft Ignite conference, which talks about the origins of Threddy. In Career Principles I talk about my experiences as a software developer.

While not a highlight, one notable thing I’d like to mention is my change in social media platforms. From 2017 to 2022 I focused on Twitter. With the recent changes to that platform, I’ve been exploring other options. Lately I’ve been spending time on Threads and Mastodon (infosec dot exchange). I keep my social media links updated on my web site (https://threddyrex.com).

In the end, I feel like it was a solid year of comics and posts. This is just a hobby for me and I do it in my free time, but I’m proud of what I created this year.

Without further ado - below are the top Threddy Comics from 2023.
